Job summary

Chailey Heritage Foundation in Lewes is seeking a Lunchtime Education Assistant to support pupils with complex physical disabilities and health needs during lunch periods, including mealtimes, personal care and social activities.

The role requires compassion, reliability and teamwork. Prior SEN experience helps, but a willingness to learn and grow within our Education team is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience with children and young people in SEN settings is an advantage but not essential.
• Comfortable with personal care and sensitive support.
• Willing to learn and develop within the Education team.
• Able to work cooperatively and build positive relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care, hygiene and mealtime routines.
• Engage pupils in social play and activities to promote interaction and independence.
• Prepare and tidy lunch areas, and support pupils' dietary and sensory needs.
• Support mobility needs using appropriate handling techniques.
• Support pupils with activities and learning during working hours.
• Advocate for children and young people, respecting their individuality and promoting confidence.
