Job summary

SSE’s Electrical Network Asset Inspector (Low-Voltage) role focuses on inspecting low-voltage cables, recording findings, and supporting asset management across the local network. Based in Andover, Melksham, Swindon or Oxford, the job combines inspection, problem-solving and customer interaction.

This permanent onsite position requires travel to various locations, a full UK driving license, and a benefits package including a company vehicle, training and tools to perform the role effectively.

Qualifications

• Experience with electrical cables, meters, wiring and cable installations.
• Knowledge of DNO operations and safety regulations.
• Understanding of COSHH regulations in practice.
• Familiar with distribution inspection procedures and statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed inspections of low-voltage cables branching from the main network.
• Record accurate information to ensure safety and compliance.
• Identify asset defects and escalate through the proper channels.
• Secure access by liaising with landowners, tenants and property managers.
