Overview

About the role Join the John Lewis Profit Protection team to enhance efficiency and profitability by mitigating harm to Partners and Customers and managing shrinkage. This role addresses all aspects of shrinkage including dishonesty, procedural failure and administrative error. You will uphold high Loss Prevention standards, mentor colleagues and work with stakeholders to achieve targets. Responsibilities include managing conflict, apprehending those involved in retail crime, and coaching Partners on shrinkage and crime awareness. You will also take responsibility for self-development, engage in department activities and act as an ambassador for the John Lewis & Partners brand.

Important information

Due to its nature, you need to be 18-years or older to work in this role. You’ll work on a rota basis and will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Please note: You will receive full and comprehensive training in the first few weeks of starting in this role.

Salary: The salary range for this role is between £26,500.00 - £38,000.00

Hours of work:

  • Weekday hours 09:00-18:00 (1 hour break)
  • Saturday hours 09:00-19:00 (1 hour break)
  • Sunday hours 10:30-17:30 (30 minute break)

Please note you will be required to work every other weekend.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the point of contact for Profit Protection matters, ensuring all incidents such as internal theft, external theft, and process loss are promptly escalated and managed according to procedure.
  • Mitigate the risk of malicious harm to Partners and Customers.
  • Manage branch shrinkage by investigating discrepancies, processing stock adjustments (in collaboration with the retail teams), managing external loss and coaching colleagues to ensure correct procedures are followed.
  • Address all aspects of shrinkage, including external and internal dishonesty, procedural failure and administrative error.
  • Support and coach fellow Partners on how to minimise shrinkage and complete procedures correctly to protect our profits.
  • Professionally manage and de-escalate conflict by enforcing security protocols, including the detention or banning of individuals committing offenses on the premises. (Full training will be provided).
  • Support with investigations where required, both internal and external.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement and crime prevention partners.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including stakeholder management with the ability to influence upwardly.
  • Ability to deal with and de-escalate conflict.
  • Acute attention to detail with ability to spot trends and signs of profit loss.
  • Able to shift priorities at pace.
  • Great customer service and relationship building skill
Desirable skills/experience
  • Previous experience of working in a loss prevention role, profit protection or security would be beneficial.
