Driver Hire Exeter is seeking an experienced Lorry Engineer / HGV Technician to join a well-established team in Exeter. The role offers a competitive salary and standard hours, with flexibility for part-time applicants.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
• Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with roadworthiness standards.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Follow health and safety procedures and company policies.
• Work efficiently to minimise downtime and support operations.

Salary:Starts from £45.000 up to £60,000 per annum (DOE)

Working Hours: 08:00 - 17:30

Schedule: Monday to Friday + 2 Saturdays per month

Location: Exeter

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.

• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with all roadworthiness standards.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.

• Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime and support operational demands.

Requirements

• NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Previous experience working on HGVs, lorries, trailers, or commercial vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Good understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance and repair procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or Class 2 Licence is highly advantageous, as it allows engineers to road-test vehicles after repairs).
