Job summary

GHD is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead complex UK geotechnical projects from our London team. You will direct technical investigations, oversee design and performance, and mentor engineers while shaping the future of infrastructure delivery.

You will provide expert guidance to deliver sustainable solutions across water, transportation, energy, and environmental sectors, balancing safety, quality, and budget in a collaborative, hybrid-working environment.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline and Chartered status or close to chartership.
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience in consultancy, contractor, or client environments.
• Strong leadership, client engagement, and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, management, and delivery of complex geotechnical investigations and design projects.
• Provide technical leadership, quality assurance, and review across multidisciplinary projects.
• Manage project programmes, resources, risks, and commercial performance.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and foster technical excellence.
