Job summary

Alliance Healthcare in Birmingham is hiring a Team Leader for Logistics & Transportation. The role leads a frontline team, coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring on-time deliveries, and driving safety standards. The position requires strong communication, budgeting awareness, and GDP/compliance knowledge.

The role operates day shifts from 6:00am to 3:00pm, 40 hours a week, with a focus on team development and efficient fleet management within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and motivating a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
• Knowledge of warehouse, transport and distribution processes.
• Familiarity with security, audit and compliance processes.
• Ability to use initiative within set boundaries.
• Proficient in Microsoft tools including 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams.
• Understanding and compliance with GDP principles.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations and best practices in transport and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Health and Safety agenda for the site.
• Control transport operational costs within budget with robust monitoring.
• Drive daily performance of operatives to meet productivity and quality targets.
• Manage loading of LCVs and HGVs to ensure on‑time departures.
• Implement daily rota plans and escalate concerns promptly.
• Maintain operating standards: vehicle security, paperwork accuracy, housekeeping, and H&S.
• Ensure GDP and SOP compliance, delivering training as directed by management.
• Promote an inclusive, diverse team culture and effective communication.
• Support Driver Team Manager to achieve departmental objectives.
• Ensure customer deliveries are completed as per standards and investigate issues to prevent recurrence.
