Job summary

Whitworth Brothers Ltd is hiring a Logistics Operative in Goole, England. The role involves operating warehouse equipment, managing stock movements, and ensuring food safety and quality standards.

The successful candidate will hold a Counterbalance Forklift licence, be capable of manual handling, and proficient with warehouse systems such as D365. The position includes a 40-hour week within a 3-week rotating shift pattern.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate warehouse and logistics equipment per site procedures.
  • Manage stock movements, receipts and dispatch using D365 WMS.
  • Maintain hygiene and complete CCP checks for quality and safety.
  • Collect and test flour samples to ensure customer specs.
  • Support stock control activities including counts and FIFO adherence.
  • Collaborate with production, planning and transport teams for smooth flow.

Logistics Operative (REQ00888) Goole, England

Salary: GBP0 - GBP32085 per annum

As a Logistics Operative, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our packing and warehouse functions. You'll help ensure materials and products are available when needed, supporting the smooth running of the site while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, legality and hygiene in line with company policies and procedures.

Location: Whitley Bridge, Goole

Salary: Competitive

Hours: 40 hours per week, working a 3-week rotating shift pattern.

Flexibility is required to support operational requirements when needed. Bank holidays are a normal working day.

The role:

  • Safely operate warehouse and logistics equipment in accordance with site procedures and safety standards.
  • Manage stock movements, goods receipts and dispatch activities using the D365 Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and complete all required food safety, quality and Critical Control Point (CCP) checks.
  • Collect and test flour samples to ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Support stock control activities, including stock counts, stock takes and adherence to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Work closely with production, planning and transport teams to ensure the smooth flow of materials and finished goods.
  • Carry out basic maintenance and housekeeping tasks, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
  • Undertake manual handling activities safely and in line with company requirements.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality and company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report incidents, near misses, hazards and non-conformances, contributing to a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach to support changing operational and business needs.

About you:

  • A valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) licence is essential.
  • Comfortable with manual handling duties including lifting and moving of bags up to25kg.
  • Good IT skills, with the ability to use warehouse systems, including D365, and accurately record information.
  • Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage workloads effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and committed to delivering high standards.
  • A positive team player with a flexible approach to supporting operational requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of D365 and warehouse operating procedures.
  • A strong commitment to Health & Safety, Food Safety, quality and customer service standards.
