Job summary

ACS Staffing Solutions in Northampton are seeking a hands-on Logistics Manager to own and optimise the logistics operation, driving performance and developing a capable team. The role focuses on improving processes, reducing waste and ensuring timely dispatches to support business growth.

You will manage day-to-day activities, lead a logistics team, and collaborate with production and installation to ensure stock accuracy and efficient flow from receipt to dispatch.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day logistics and warehouse operation
  • Oversee inbound deliveries, containers, stock receipt and put-away
  • Ensure stock is stored accurately and efficiently
  • Manage stock movements between warehouse, production, installation and dispatch
  • Ensure customer orders are picked, checked, packed and dispatched accurately and on time
  • Plan labour and resources according to workload and business demand
  • Lead, motivate and develop the logistics team
  • Allocate daily duties and ensure resources are used effectively
  • Set clear performance expectations and monitor team KPIs
  • Manage attendance, performance and operational issues
  • Identify training requirements and support team development
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and health & safety
  • Monitor stock accuracy, picking accuracy, fulfilment and dispatch performance
  • Manage transport providers and resolve delivery or collection issues
  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks
  • Drive continuous improvement across warehouse layout, stock flow and working practices
  • Monitor overtime, agency labour and operational costs
  • Reduce unnecessary handling, rework and inefficient processes
  • Support the introduction of new systems and processes
  • Provide regular performance updates to senior management
  • Ensure the logistics operation has the capacity and resources to support future growth

Logistics Manager

Salary: £30,000 - £38,000 per annum DOE

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time, onsite

Are you an experienced Logistics Manager who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and getting the best from a team?

An exciting opportunity has become available for a hands-on and proactive Logistics Manager to join a growing organisation and take responsibility for the effective day-to-day running of its logistics operation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who doesn't just want to manage the daily workload, but wants to improve the operation, drive performance and help build a logistics function capable of supporting continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a Logistics Manager, Warehouse Manager, Distribution Manager or similar operational leadership role.

You’ll ideally have:
  • Proven experience managing a warehouse, logistics or distribution operation
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and stock control
  • Experience leading, managing and motivating teams
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Experience working with operational KPIs and performance data
  • Good understanding of warehouse health & safety
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
  • Good IT and administrative skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Manufacturing or production environments
  • 3PL or multi‑customer warehouse operations
  • WMS or ERP systems
  • Transport and delivery management
  • Process improvement and operational optimisation
