Warehouse and Logistics Manager opportunity has become available within a rapidly growing, well-established manufacturing organisation expanding into new markets and introducing new product lines. Taking complete ownership of warehouse and logistics operations across two sites, this position focuses on leading a team of over 30 staff, establishing robust processes, optimising layouts for a newly established second facility, and embedding continuous improvement to ensure production and customer deliveries run seamlessly. Based in the Birmingham area, the role offers a salary of circa 55K, a 10% annual management bonus, early Friday finish, flexible working, and long-term career development within a stable and expanding advanced manufacturing environment.
Warehouse and Logistics Manager duties include
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of 30+ staff across two sites, including Supervisors, FLT Drivers, Stores Operatives, and Shunters.
- Establishing, optimising, and standardising best-in-class warehouse processes and material flow across both facilities.
- Managing warehouse layout, racking, and space utilisation, particularly assisting with the setup of the new facility.
- Overseeing daily operational activities across goods-in, goods-out, storage, line replenishment, and dispatch.
- Maintaining accurate inventory control via cycle counts and ERP system usage, addressing stock discrepancies promptly.
- Working closely with Production, Planning, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to eliminate operational bottlenecks and support JIT/high-mix production environments.
- Embedding 5S, lean methodology, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and enhance service levels.
- Ensuring strict adherence to HSE standards, conducting risk assessments, safety audits, and managing FLT and manual handling compliance.
Warehouse and Logistics Manager desirable skills and experience
- Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or Senior Logistics Leader within a manufacturing or automotive environment.
- Demonstrated experience in people leadership, change management, and implementing process improvements.
- Hands-on experience working with WMS / ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of HSE standards in warehousing environments, ideally backed by an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Exposure to barcode scanning integration, JIT (Just-In-Time), or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environments.
- A galvanising, collaborative leadership style with high standards of accountability and strong attention to detail.
