Are you an experienced logistics professional with a strong background in yard management, transport planning, and team leadership? Our client, a well-established and innovative company within the manufacturing and engineering sector, is seeking a dynamic Logistics Manager to join their operations team.

The Role:

This is a hands-on but highly rewarding role that combines strategic oversight with day-to-day operational involvement. You will take full responsibility for overseeing all yard operations and logistics activities to ensure the efficient and timely movement of goods. This is a pivotal role that requires a proactive mindset, strong leadership, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and optimise all yard layouts and traffic flow to maximise operational efficiency.
  
• Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely delivery and cost control.
  
• Collaborate with transport providers and internal teams to maintain seamless logistics operations.
  
• Manage parts preparation activities in line with production and maintenance schedules.
  
• Lead and develop a team of logistics professionals, including forklift operators and logistics coordinators.
  
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards and conduct relevant investigations where required.
  

The Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience in logistics planning and yard management within a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing setting.
  
• Demonstrated success in leading teams of 6+ staff, including shift leaders or chargehands.
  
• A hands-on leader with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  
• Familiarity with Sage 200 and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  
• Health and safety qualifications such as IOSH 'Managing Safely' (or willingness to achieve this with training).
