Job summary

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust seeks a locum consultant in Plastic Surgery with a trauma focus to cover 12 months, with input at University Hospital Southampton's Major Trauma Centre. The role includes trauma care across both sites, microsurgical limb reconstruction and leadership of junior staff.

Applicants require a CCT in Plastic Surgery (or within six months) and a full GMC licence to practise. Experience in trauma and microsurgery will be highly valued, with teaching responsibilities and

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and teaching abilities for junior staff.
• Clear written and spoken communication with patients and team.
• Experience in trauma-focused plastic surgery and major trauma settings.

Responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of trauma services across Salisbury and Southampton.
• Provide clinical leadership for junior doctors, nursing and other staff.
• Take part in the consultant on-call rota and ensure timely decisions.
• Support management of general plastic surgery patients in the department.
• Deliver teaching and training to junior doctors, students and staff.
• Collaborate with theatre bookings to maximise list utilisation.
• Respond to guidance requests via the Cinapsis system.
• Participate in clinical governance and morbidity reviews.
• Work with consultants and the multidisciplinary team in Plastic Surgery.
