Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a locum consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics with a special interest in hip surgery. The post involves managing a personal caseload in hip and knee arthroplasty and arthroscopy, running lists independently, and sharing trauma on‑calls.

The role includes teaching and participation in clinical governance and CPD activities. The department provides training links to Oxford and St Mary's and requires GMC registration or eligibility within six months.

Qualifications

• Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of the United Kingdom or equivalent.
• Full GMC registration, or eligible within 6 months of CCST at interview date.
• Fully trained in trauma and orthopaedics; knee arthroplasty; hip arthroscopy.
• Fellowship training in arthroplasty and periprosthetic fracture surgery.

Responsabilités

• Share the large referred clinical load with existing staff.
• Independently manage and operate on own caseload (hip/knee arthroplasty, arthroscopy).
• Run lists independently without senior oversight.
• Share weekday and weekend trauma on-calls with teams.
• Attend daily trauma meetings and monthly governance meetings; participate in teaching.
