Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a proactive Healthcare Assistant to work at a GP practice in Abingdon. You will support the clinical team with routine procedures and patient assessments in a structured primary care setting.

Responsibilities include observing vitals, assisting in treatment rooms, phlebotomy if trained, ECGs and updating patient records, with ad hoc or regular weekly sessions and morning/afternoon shifts.

Qualifications

• HCA with NHS/primary care experience is valuable.
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Enhanced DBS is required.
• Strong communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation.
• Supporting with treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments.
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion.
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required.
