Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a proactive Healthcare Assistant to work in a GP practice in Houghton Le Spring. You will support the clinical team with routine procedures, patient assessments and daily treatment room activity, ensuring smooth patient flow in a structured primary care setting.

The role involves performing clinical observations, assisting with treatment room procedures, phlebotomy (if trained) and ECGs, plus updating records in the practice system.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or NHS setting is required.
• Phlebotomy experience is desirable.
• Comfortable performing clinical observations and basic assessments.
• Must hold an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine observations: BP, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation.
• Support treatment room procedures and day-to-day activity.
• Assist with phlebotomy and sample handling where trained.
• Complete ECGs and support routine patient assessments.
• Provide lifestyle advice and promote health.
• Update patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assist clinicians with general tasks as required.
