Job summary

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is appointing an Elective and Emergency Care ENT Locum Consultant with a specialist interest in benign thyroid cancer. The post supports a Head and Neck Service for adults and paediatrics in a Trust integrating into the Black Country network.

The role includes a 10 PA weekly plan and an on-call rota of 1:5 weekday nights. A five-day service operates Monday to Friday; weekend emergencies are admitted to Neu Cross Hospital.

Qualifications

Essential ENT qualifications with GMC registration.
Experience in Head & Neck/Thyroid subspecialty is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to audit and improve services.

Responsibilities

Be responsible for delivering high-quality ENT services with evidence-based practice.
Provide clinical advice to primary/secondary care and oversee referrals.
Offer comprehensive outpatient management for suspected Head & Neck cancers and benign conditions.
Support teaching and training of junior staff and medical students.
Promote audit, research, and CME participation; contribute to service improvement.
Develop ENT services in liaison with community and primary care services.
