Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Emergency and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery to work at Queens Hospital, Romford, with cross-site duties. The post is a 1-year fixed-term contract with 10 PA (potentially 12 PA) and offers opportunities to contribute to urgent and elective GI services.

The appointee will lead on oesophago-gastric cancer care, support UGI Faster Diagnosis Standards, participate in MDTs, teaching and research, and

Qualifications

• Experience in general and upper GI surgical services.
• Ability to participate in rapid diagnosis and cancer services.
• Experience with teaching, supervision and research is desirable.

Responsabilités

• Provide high-quality surgical/oncological care for oesophago-gastric cancer and benign GI disease.
• Deliver acute general surgery on-call coverage on a 1 in 3 weekday / 1 in 12 weekend rota.
• Support emergency upper GI services within the Trust.
• Attend weekly multidisciplinary meetings.
• Supervise and manage junior medical staff.
• Engage in research and audit activities.
• Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
• Cover for colleagues during authorised absences.
• Participate in Departmental Quality & Safety meetings.
