Job summary

South Yorkshire Police is seeking a Local Referral Clerk in Wombwell to provide administrative and call-handling support to the Referral Unit and assist officers within District PPU. The role involves updating records, assisting with the Child Protection database, and handling enquiries while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.

The position offers a competitive salary (£25,242–£27,204) for 37 hours per week, permanent contract, and hybrid working options.

  • Record crimes requested by management.
  • Process telephone calls to the Referral Unit and prioritise as appropriate.
  • Research persons using CATS, LYNX, CONNECT, COMPACT, PNC, PND, SMART CONTACT and Internet systems as appropriate.
  • Liaise with internal departments, other Police Forces and Agencies.
  • Deal with internal/external enquiries.
  • Support management in daily duties within the Local Referral Unit.

As a Local Referral Clerk, you will provide administrative and call handling support to the Referral Unit and support officers within District PPU.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
