Job summary

West Midlands Combined Authority is seeking a Lived Experience and Co‑production Lead to shape the regional lived experience and co‑production function for the Changing Futures Programme. You will work across local government, health, housing, criminal justice and VCSE partners to ensure lived experience informs governance and service reform.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing, leading and embedding co‑production in multi‑agency public services.
• Experience working with people facing multiple disadvantages or inequalities.
• Experience giving specialist advice to senior leaders, boards or partnerships.
• Strong knowledge of co‑production theory and practice.
• Understanding trauma‑informed and psychologically informed approaches.
• Ability to interpret policy/guidance for service improvement or system change.
• Excellent facilitation and relationship‑building across organisations.
• Ability to analyse qualitative insight to identify themes and recommendations.
• Clear communication and influencing skills without direct authority.
• Experience working at regional/system level across multiple organisations.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of the regional lived experience and co‑production function.
• Ensure lived experience informs governance, learning and system change priorities.
• Provide specialist advice and challenge to senior leaders and partner organisations.
• Develop tools and guidance to support high‑quality co‑production across the region.
• Influence policy development, service design and commissioning using lived experience evidence.
• Identify themes from lived experience activity across Birmingham, Sandwell and Wolverhampton.
• Establish and coordinate the Regional Lived Experience Network.
• Build trusted relationships with lived experience groups and VCSE and public partners.
