Job summary

Supply Team Education is seeking a Literacy & Numeracy Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Newport. This is a full-time role commencing in September and continuing on an ongoing basis.

You will support students with upcoming exams, helping them develop numeracy and literacy skills while boosting confidence in the subject matter. The role suits someone with experience in similar positions or a background in helping children/young adults, with a patient and empathetic approach.

Qualifications

• Candidate should have experience in similar roles or background in supporting children/young adults.
• A patient, empathetic and understanding character is well suited to this role.
• Commitment to safeguarding and ability to build relationships with students.

Responsibilities

• To work under the guidance of the class teacher in supporting the pupils.
• Assisting with the preparation of the classroom before each lesson, as well as tidying/collecting workbooks etc at the end.
• Working on a one-to-one basis where required.
• Attendance of school trips.
• Being aware of child protection and safeguarding protocols.
• Accompanying pupils whilst out of class.
• Carry out general administrative duties, as directed.
