Job summary

Clevedon School on the North Somerset coast is seeking a compassionate Literacy and Behaviour Support Worker to join the Student Support Department (Horizons). The role focuses on planning and delivering intervention strategies that support individual progress in behaviour and literacy for students with SEND by working in partnership with the student, parents, school staff and other professionals.

This is a permanent role, 37 hours per week, Term Time Only + 5 inset days. Start date: 01/10/2026.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children/young people in a workplace or voluntary capacity.
  • Ability to motivate learners and build rapport while promoting independence.
  • Evidence of a basic education level and continuing professional development (e.g., teaching qualification).
  • Recent experience in a school as Learning Support Assistant or similar child-focused role.
  • Belief that every child deserves the very best opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver intervention strategies to improve behaviour and literacy for students with SEND.
  • Work in partnership with students, parents, school staff and other professionals.
  • Monitor progress and adapt approaches to support individual pupil progress.

About Clevedon School

Clevedon School, on the North Somerset coast, is seeking a compassionate and committed Literacy and Behaviour Support Worker to join the Student Support Department (Horizons), which supports students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access, achieve and enjoy education and school life. The main responsibility is to act as a support worker planning and delivering intervention strategies that support individual progress in behaviour and literacy for students with SEND by working in partnership with the student, their parents, school staff and other professionals.

About You
  • Has experience of supporting children/young people in a work place or voluntary capacity
