The Linux Team Leader sits within the wider Systems Team, under IT Services. The team looks after some of our most fundamental and critical IT infrastructure enabling all of the incredible day-to-day activities that the University performs. We’re looking for someone to bring the very best out of this team.

In this role, you will manage a very diverse portfolio of services, overseeing the operation of our Linux server infrastructure, expansive filestores, and our cutting‑edge AWS environment. You will bridge the gap between technical operations and strategic planning, acting as a technical supervisor for high‑impact projects. This isn’t just about maintaining current systems; you’ll have the autonomy to build our technical roadmap, lead high‑impact strategic projects, and collaborate across IT Services to shape the future of our infrastructure.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Experience of managing people in a customer focused environment
Extensive experience of installing and managing Unix and Linux systems
Expertise in managing systems using configuration management tools such as Puppet or Chef
Sound knowledge of network architectures and technologies
Demonstrable understanding of the operational requirements and challenges of supporting high availability IT systems within a complex organisation
