Job summary

Randstad Digital in London is seeking a Systems Engineer for a 9-month contract to manage, test, and automate core enterprise compute and networking platforms for internal engineering teams. You will develop Python and Ansible automation to reduce manual tasks and connect endpoints via REST APIs for self-service environments.

Qualifications

• Strong Unix and Linux systems administration experience, including RHEL, Solaris, or AIX.
• Low-level OS troubleshooting experience.
• Experience writing Python scripts, Ansible playbooks, and Bash to automate manual tasks.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, HTTP, SSL/TLS, and DNS.
• Daily use of the Linux command line, including kernels, storage and file systems.
• Experience with REST APIs, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools.

Responsibilities

• Build Python and Ansible automation to remove repetitive setup, patching, and configuration tasks across enterprise infrastructure.
• Connect infrastructure endpoints via REST APIs to deliver self-service, automated compute and network environments.
• Run hands-on testing in lab environments to validate and certify new hardware and software releases before deployment.
• Maintain high availability across RHEL, Ubuntu, and legacy Unix platforms while driving infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Partner with internal technical teams to turn operational pain points into scalable, automated solutions.

Salary: £40,000 - 67,500 per year

Requirements:

We are a well established firm hiring an experienced Systems Engineer on a 9-month contract with extension potential. The role is based in London with 3 days in the office and is paid at £350 a day inside IR35.
