Job summary

Freedom Networks is seeking a Chargehand Linesman in Basingstoke to lead overhead line projects up to 33kV, perform maintenance and replacements in a field-based role, and mentor teammates.

You will work safely to company standards, manage site risk, and deliver high-quality overhead network installations and improvements within a supportive engineering team.

Qualifications

• Experience as a linesperson in overhead networks.
• IPAF-accredited or willing to be trained.
• NRSWA Operative qualification or equivalent.
• Valid UK driving licence mandatory.
• High safety awareness with a risk-averse approach.

Responsibilities

• Erect, maintain and replace overhead networks up to 33kV.
• Lead the OHL team and mentor colleagues.
• Align work with Freedom standards, policies and customer requirements.
• Carry out risk assessments and monitor site conditions.
• Ensure safety compliance and efficient task completion.

About the Role

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Freedom Networks is on the lookout for a passionate Chargehand Linesman to join our dynamic team! In this field-based position, you'll play a vital role in our Overhead Line (OHL) team, leading exciting projects that involve the construction, maintenance, and replacement of overhead line networks.This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to enhance your skills, embrace responsibility, and grow your career within a supportive and innovative environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Be an integral part of the Overhead Line team, erecting poles, changing transformers, and performing a variety of overhead line activities.
• Construct, maintain, and replace overhead electrical networks up to 33kV.
• Ensure all work aligns with Freedom standards, policies, and customer requirements.
• Lead by example, safely executing tasks as directed.
• Participate in risk assessments and continuously review site conditions.
• Work safely in accordance with company and statutory safety requirements.
• Complete all tasks efficiently and in line with company procedures.
• Install and construct overhead electricity networks to high-quality standards.
• Mentor and support the development of fellow team members.
• Maintain your own competence in line with legislative and customer requirements.
• Contribute to the safe and effective delivery of Freedom's operations.
• Promote and adhere to SHEQ policies and safety instructions.
• Maintain issued vehicles, tools, and equipment in excellent condition.

What We're Looking For

• A background and experience as a Linesperson.
• Experience working on dead networks and/or live LV working.
• IPAF accreditation (training can be provided).
• A full UK driving licence.
• NRSWA Operative qualification.
• A strong awareness of safety and a risk-averse approach.
• The ability to interact professionally with the public.
• A team-oriented mindset, enthusiastic and committed to high performance.
