Job summary

Kew Green Hotels in Ipswich is seeking a Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. You will cook and present dishes to recipe standards, support daily specials, and keep prep areas clean and stocked.

You can join our Chef Academy with a funded Level 2 Commis Chef qualification, gain food safety knowledge, and work with a supportive team to deliver memorable guest experiences. Benefits include gym access, staff discounts, and wellbeing support.

This role reports to the Kitchen Manager.

What you'll do:

• Cook and present dishes to recipe standards, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Support the creation of daily specials to showcase your skills and excite our guests.
• Keep food prep areas stocked, clean, and ready throughout service.
• Follow food safety standards and help minimise waste.
• Work with your team and Kitchen Manager to deliver excellent guest experiences.

What we’re looking for

• Previous cooking experience (restaurant, hotel, pub or similar) or a willingness to learn by joining our Chef Academy and completing a funded Level 2 Commis Chef qualification.
• Knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
• Basic Food Safety certification (or willingness to complete training).
• A passion for great food and creating memorable guest experiences.
• A positive attitude, commitment to teamwork and desire to learn.
