Job summary

Kew Green Hotels is seeking a motivated Commis Chef to join the kitchen team and develop cooking skills while delivering high-quality dishes for guests at Holiday Inn Brighton Seafront. Training through our Chef Academy and funded Level 2 qualification supports your growth.

You will cook to recipe standards, assist with daily specials, maintain clean prep areas, and uphold food safety practices. A positive attitude and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience in cooking in restaurant/hotel/pub or willingness to learn via Chef Academy.
• Knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
• Basic Food Safety certification or willingness to complete training.
• Passion for great food and guest experiences.

Join our kitchen team to showcase your creativity, grow your skills and help deliver outstanding dining experiences for our guests.

This role reports to the Kitchen Manager.

What you'll do:

• Cook and present dishes to recipe standards, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Support the creation of daily specials to showcase your skills and excite our guests.
• Keep food prep areas stocked, clean, and ready throughout service.
• Follow food safety standards and help minimise waste.
• Work with your team and Kitchen Manager to deliver excellent guest experiences.

What we’re looking for

• Previous cooking experience (restaurant, hotel, pub or similar) or a willingness to learn by joining our Chef Academy and completing a funded Level 2 Commis Chef qualification.
• Knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
• Basic Food Safety certification (or willingness to complete training).
• A passion for great food and creating memorable guest experiences.
• A positive attitude, commitment to teamwork and desire to learn.
