Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting a Chef de Partie for Kings College Taunton. You will join a busy kitchen, delivering high quality meals for around 1,000 students daily in a 40-hour week role with 5/7 shift pattern.

There is a strong focus on hygiene, stock control, and teamwork. The role requires at least 1 year of experience in a similar setting and a proactive, professional approach.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role is essential.
• Experience in school or contract catering is advantageous.
• Enhanced DBS check will be completed for this role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high quality dishes, ensuring every meal is delivered to an excellent standard.
• Support the Head Chef and wider team with daily food preparation during busy service.
• Receive and check deliveries, store ingredients correctly, and rotate stock (FIFO).
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety to company standards.

Job Introduction:

Do you have a passion for cooking and delivering high quality dishes? Join Sodexo as a Chef de Partie at Kings College Taunton. Kings College is a Prestigious College situated in a beautiful rural campus that's still only around a 10 minute walk from Taunton town centre. Although this is in walking distance, public transport is available.

You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team of 12, split across two teams, producing fresh, nutritious meals for a busy school community and serving approximately 1,000 meals per day. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Chef de Partie with strong high volume catering experience who thrives in a fast paced, rewarding environment.

What You'll Do:

• Prepare and cook high quality dishes, ensuring every meal is delivered to an excellent standard and served at the correct temperature.
• Support the Head Chef and wider team with daily food preparation, maintaining smooth service during busy, high volume periods.
• Receive and check deliveries, store ingredients correctly, and follow stock rotation procedures (including FIFO) to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
• Maintain exceptional hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in line with company policies and legal requirements.
• Work collaboratively with your team to create a positive, supportive kitchen environment for both colleagues and the school community.
• Assist with school events, themed days, and special functions, which may occasionally fall outside normal working hours.
• Provide a friendly, professional, and approachable service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Follow portion control guidelines and support sustainable, cost effective catering practices.
• Contribute ideas for menu improvements, service enhancements, and ways to elevate the overall dining experience.

What You Bring:

• A passion for cooking and a positive, can do attitude within a professional kitchen environment.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with confidence managing your section during high volume service.
• The ability to work well under pressure while maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety, and attention to detail.
• A proactive, reliable approach and willingness to learn, develop, and contribute creative ideas.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role is essential; experience in school or contract catering is advantageous.
• An Enhanced DBS check will be completed for this role.
