Job summary

Espuk in Tamworth is seeking an innovative Product Design Engineer to own development projects through the full lifecycle, including sample reviews, supplier engagement, and regulatory documentation for UK compliance.

You will lead concept-to-launch activities for lighting and non-lighting ranges, deliver design reviews, and coordinate with teams in the UK and Far East to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in product design or mechanical engineering.
• Strong understanding of fundamental physical principles.
• Practical knowledge of injection moulding and manufacturing processes.
• Creative, considered approach to problem-solving, supported by clear and structured design processes.
• Understanding of practical, methodical design development through prototyping and testing.
• Proven ability to communicate design concepts using 2D and 3D methods, including sketching, CAD and model-making.
• Technical and personal credibility to work effectively with other teams within the business.
• Ability to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and coordinate with the work of others.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Apply creative problem-solving to shape clear specifications for new product concepts, primarily for lighting and luminaires.
• Lead projects from concept through to launch, producing supporting documentation.
• Contribute to ideation sessions and conduct research for new concepts.
• Champion high-quality design meeting performance and usability criteria.
• Take a proactive, hands-on approach to resolving engineering challenges.
• Follow development processes to deliver robust design solutions on time.
• Maintain accurate documentation for handover to UK or Far East teams.
• Collaborate across the Technical Department for timely input.
• Work with Far East partners to ensure quality and on-time delivery.
• Prepare design reviews with management and directors.
• Support intellectual property applications as required.
• Present design reviews to company directors when needed.
