Job summary

North Yorkshire Council’s Thirsk & Sowerby Leisure Centre is seeking a motivated Leisure Attendant to help supervise customers, ensure safety and deliver daily operations. You will be part of the Leisure Services team, working to meet policy standards and provide excellent customer care.

Key requirements include RLSS NPLQ (or willing to train), safeguarding awareness, ability to work in a team, and the ability to take initiative. DBS clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Hold the RLSS NPLQ qualification (or be able to achieve it prior to employment) to ensure safe and effective lifeguard practice and undertake essential regular training in line with lifeguard qualification standards and organisational protocols
• Awareness of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
• Good understanding of customer care and working with customers/general public
• Ability to work in an environment with conflicting priorities and demands
• Ability to work effectively within a team and use own initiative
• Ability to give clear, accurate instructions verbally and through signals to customers and team
• Ability to solve routine problems as they arise and suggest ideas to improve service provision

Responsibilities

• Supervise customers, ensuring safety and satisfaction while following North Yorkshire Council policies and procedures
• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the leisure centre
• Support and communicate with the Leisure Services team to deliver a safe and welcoming environment
