Job summary

West Lothian Leisure is seeking a dedicated Lifeguard at Xcite Linlithgow. The role offers a guaranteed minimum of 7.5 hours per week with shifts agreed in advance with the manager.

Expected duties include supervising pool areas, enforcing safety, responding to emergencies, and delivering excellent customer service. NPLQ is preferred, but full training can be provided for the right candidate who shows enthusiasm and commitment.

Qualifications

• Current or pending National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
• Reliable and adaptable with good weekday and weekend availability.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and meet minimum weekly hours.

Responsibilities

• patrol pool sides or sit in an elevated chair to supervise the pool and its customers.
• stop dangerous behaviour and ensure safety of swimmers.
• respond quickly in emergencies to effect rescues.
• perform first aid if required.
• undertake routine maintenance and rigorous cleaning duties.
• set up and take down sports equipment such as lane ropes and diving blocks.
• undertake water tests including pH and chlorine levels.
• deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer complaints.

Join our team at Xcite Linlithgow in a flexible Lifeguard role with a guaranteed minimum of 7.5 hours per week, with shifts agreed in advance with your manager.

We’re looking for people with good weekday and weekend availability who are reliable, adaptable and happy to support the minimum hours.

Additional hours may be available or required to meet the needs of the venue.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol the pool sides(s) or sit in an elevated chair to supervise the swimming pool(s) and its customers

• Stop behaviour which could be dangerous

• Respond quickly in emergency situations to effect rescues

• Perform first aid if required

• Undertake routine maintenance and rigorous cleaning duties

• Set up and take down sports equipment such as lane ropes and diving blocks

• Undertake scheduled water tests such as PH and chlorine levels

• Deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer complaints should they arise

• Process bookings and payments through cash and credit card transactions

• Promote products and services to customers and visitors.

• Undertake general administrative tasks to support the delivery of programmes and services

• Attend regular training to maintain job competence and the NPLQ
