Job summary

Gloucestershire County Council's Gloucester Libraries is seeking a Library Assistant to support customers and contribute to a welcoming library service across Matson, Hucclecote and Longlevens.

You will help customers choose and issue books, maintain stock, run children's activities, and signpost to advice services while working independently and with volunteers in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent and proven customer service experience.
• Be a team player with strong communication and organisational skills.
• Have experience of working with or organising events for children.
• Strong ICT skills.
• A knowledge of the services libraries offer and the role libraries play in the community.

Responsibilities

• Help customers choose and issue books.
• Maintain the stock in the library.
• Signpost to advice services.
• Provide children's activities.
• Work with colleagues and volunteers, handle money and think on your feet.
