Job summary

Gloucestershire County Council is seeking a Library Manager to lead Gloucester Main Library, ensuring the day-to-day running and delivering a high-quality service to customers.

You will supervise and develop Library Assistants, coordinate activities and events, and collaborate with partners and the local community to meet diverse needs.

The role is 37 hours per week, fixed for 12 months, with some flexibility for evenings and alternate Saturdays and occasional home-working where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Experience managing a team with focus on performance and development.
• Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
• Clear and effective communication across the library service and with partners.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Oversee daily operations of Gloucester Main Library.
• Lead and develop Library Assistants to deliver a high-quality service to customers and partners.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety and data collection, and support service delivery across priorities.
