Job Title: Library Assistant (Part-Time)

We are seeking a dedicated Library Assistant to join our Education team on a permanent, part-time basis. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality library services, working closely with customers, colleagues, and the prison service.

Location: HMP Onley

The Library Assistants are responsible for routine library duties including lending, shelving, developing displays, and supporting customers with diverse library and information needs under the guidance of our Library Manager.

This role provides support to customers in their reading choices and online services, handles queries, signposts appropriately, and offers guidance to help customers find the information they need. Additionally, the role involves contributing to outreach library services, events, and programs.

Working hours: 22 hours per week

What are we looking for?

You should have an interest and awareness of current publishing trends, reader recommendations, and titles suitable for various ability levels. A good understanding of customer service principles is essential. Experience working in a custodial environment and creating learning resources is desirable but not required.
