Job description

We are currently recruiting for 2 Museum Assistants :-

Post 1 - 11 hours average per week on a four week rota,

Post 2 - 11.71 hours average per week on a four week rota

As a Museum Assistant you will ensure the safety and security of the building, collections and all visitors. You will provide a reception service for the museum and will ideally have experience of dealing with the public in a service role, preferably with security responsibility and previous cash handling experience. Your role is also to maintain the cleanliness of the building. The job includes regular lifting, carrying and patrolling. In addition there will be opportunities for delivering activities, educational sessions and helping with exhibitions.

The hours of work average 11 hours (post 1) 11.71 hours (post 2) on a fixed rota system which includes Bank Holidays, Weekends and evenings.

Your role will also include maintaining the cleanliness of the building. You will support the safety of our visitors including acting as a Fire Warden and facilitating emergency evacuations, including that of disabled persons requiring an evac chair.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with the public, we have up to 30,000 people visit each year. You will need to be fit enough to carry out the manual handling aspects of the job on a daily basis.
