Job description

Circulation Student Assistant, Library - $8.00/hour

This position assists patrons with library related inquiries and transactions; maintains the library’s collection; handles opening/closing procedures and monitors building premises.

Position Type: Student

Number of Open Positions: 10-12

Department: Murray Library - Circulation (2430E)

Campus: Main Campus (Grantham)

Supervisor: Deb Roof

Work Period: 6-10 hours per week, Fall

Work Schedule: TBD with supervisor

Experience Required: Prior library experience is a plus.

Dress Code Requirements: Casual with modesty expected

Special Working Conditions: Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Primary Duties:

  1. Perform circulation duties such as: check-in, check-out, holds, class reserves & interlibrary loans.
  2. Assist patrons with a variety of library & academic related questions.
  3. Maintain library collection by organizing, shelving, shelf-reading & reviewing.
  4. Demonstrate a welcoming & hospitable demeanor.
  5. Attend all mandatory circulation meetings.
  6. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
