Job summary

Peterson is seeking an experienced driver to operate transport vehicles and manage loading/unloading tasks across vessels, containers, and trailers. You will ensure safety, compliance with ADR where applicable, and maintain accurate records.

The role involves driving, goods handling, and coordination with site supervisors to meet delivery schedules. You will promote teamwork, communicate clearly with colleagues, and adhere to daily tachograph and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• LGV Class 1 licence is required.
• ADR – carriage of dangerous goods by road regulations (not essential).
• Forklift truck license and cargo handling experience where applicable.
• Driving experience preferable.
• Digital driver card owner preferred.
• Ability to promote teamwork, flexibility, enthusiasm and determination to ensure team success.
• Ability to effectively communicate with other team members.

Responsibilities

• Operate transport vehicles as directed by line supervisor.
• Load and unload vessels, trailers, containers or other duties as directed.
• Stop the job if unsafe and report to supervisor.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks as per operator procedures.
• Collect and deliver loads to and from vendors/customers safely and promptly.
• Secure loads using appropriate methods and double strap when required.
• Prepare paperwork for deliveries and ensure paperwork is received on load collection.
• Ensure straps and related equipment are fit for purpose and report defects.
• Carry dangerous goods in accordance with ADR and related regulations.
• Maintain professional demeanor in all driving duties on road or site.
• Coordinate effectively with boat foreman and quayside supervisor.
