Job summary

Oasis Academy Fir Vale in Sheffield is seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to support pupils in EYFS and Key Stage 1. You will help deliver structured activities, support literacy and numeracy, and promote inclusive, positive learning experiences within a diverse school community.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, collaboration with teachers, and building strong home–school partnerships to help every child thrive.

Qualifications

• Level 3 EYFS qualification (or equivalent) is required.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience supporting teaching and learning in a primary setting.
• Experience working with pupils with SEND, EAL and additional learning needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and equality.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, respectful relationships with pupils and act as a trusted role model.
• Provide targeted support for pupils, including those with IEPs/EHCPs and additional learning needs.
• Support safety, wellbeing and personal care needs; promote independence.
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs and styles; support literacy and numeracy development.
• Prepare and organise teaching materials and resources; contribute to pupil reports and assessments.
• Assist with classroom displays and provide occasional cover supervision when required.
