Job summary

St Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Gateshead is seeking a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with identified needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You will help access learning, contribute to the curriculum, and maintain a positive learning environment during term-time only.

The role is 21 hours 15 minutes per week, across Monday to Friday mornings, with a temporary contract and pro rata salary (£27,709–£29,070 per annum).

Salary: Grade E, SCP 8 – 11 (£27,709 to £29,070 per annum, pro rata)

Hours: 21 Hours and 15 Minutes per Week (8:45am to 1:00pm, Monday to Friday), Temporary Contract, Term Time Only (38 Weeks per Year)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our school. The successful postholder will primarily provide 1:1 support for pupils with identified additional needs, ensuring they can access learning, achieve their individual targets and participate fully in school life. The postholder will also work with small groups of children and provide support across the whole school. As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant you will support pupils’ access to learning, contribute to the delivery of the curriculum, and help maintain a positive, well-managed learning environment. You may also support pupils with identified medical needs, working in line with Individual Healthcare Plans and school policies to ensure their health, safety, dignity and inclusion throughout the school day.
