Job summary

Nacro is seeking a Level 3 Learning Support Assistant to join the Totton College team. The role involves assisting and supporting teaching staff across a broad spectrum of academic and vocational areas within the classroom and around the centre.

We value a supportive, friendly team and commitment to enabling learners to progress. English and maths at level 2+ are required, with Level 3 teaching qualifications or willingness to work towards, and a DBS check is essential.

Qualifications

• English and maths: level 2 or above.
• Level 3 Teaching Qualification or Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in School Qualification or willingness to work towards.
• Desirable: Mental Health First Aider / Level 3 First Aid at Work and ELSA Qualification or willingness to work towards.
• All candidates will require an enhanced DBS check.
• Previous experience in learning support desirable but not essential; Nacro supports those new to learning support work.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating and supporting students in lessons, meeting their defined needs using a range of strategies and resources.
• Support the student experience by helping them to build confidence and independence.
• Contribute to planning to meet student needs and daily routines.
• Work with colleagues to influence planning and resources for lessons, improving accessibility for all students.
• Intervene and support students to make progress on their course; may cover lessons occasionally.
