Job summary

Nacro's Education Centre in Stoke is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to assist teaching staff across classroom and centre, delivering a broad spectrum of academic and vocational subjects.

You will support learners, including LLDD/SEN, create a positive learning environment and help learners progress from starting points. The role is term-time only with 41 weeks and 22.5 hours per week, based in Stoke.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in supporting young people in an education setting is desirable.
  • Experience of working with LLDD students with a SEN is desirable.
  • An Enhanced DBS check with Barred Lists is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and maintain focus on achievement of desired outcomes for learners across all subject areas.
  • Understand learners' needs including LLDD/SEND and use supportive strategies.
  • Engage and motivate learners while supporting tailored programmes for individual needs.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on learner progress against targets.
  • Develop relationships and liaise with external agencies in support of learner needs.

Who are we looking for?

We are in search of aLearning Support Assistantto join our Education Centre Based in Stoke. Therole is toassistand support teaching staff delivering a broad spectrum of academic and vocational subject areas within the classroomand around the centre.

We are a supportive and friendly team, who work together to ensure quality of our provision, within the local community to support the needs of the locality.

What will I be doing as aLearning Support Assistant?

A Learning Support Assistant plays a critical role in creating a positive learning environment to support learners in achieve their goals. You will ensure that learners receivehigh qualitysupport to enable them to makegood progressfrom their starting points.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Identifyandmaintainfocus on achievement of desired outcomes for learners across all subject areas looking at a variety of progression destinations to ensure they are preparing for andparticipatingin suitable opportunities.
  • Have a good understanding of all learners’ needs, including LDD/SEND and supportive strategies that are included in the group profile and initial assessment.
  • Actively engage and motivate learners in decisions that affect them whilst supporting the delivery of tailored programmes that cater for the specific needs, interests, and abilities of each individual learner
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on progress of learners, against targets set, including qualifications and pastoral support needs.
  • Develop relationships and liaise with appropriate externalagencies in support of learner’s needs and work collaboratively in a multi-agency setting asrequired.

Requirements for this role:

  • Previousexperience in supporting young people in an education setting isdesirable.
  • Experience of working with LLDD students with a SEN isdesirable.
  • An Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS check isessential.
