Job summary

Central Bedfordshire College is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 2 to support learners in English and Maths at the Dunstable campus. The role focuses on in-class and small-group assistance, helping students build understanding, confidence, and independence.

Ideal candidates will have GCSEs in English and Maths with a Level 3, plus a Level 2 TA qualification, and demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and IT skills to support inclusion and progress tracking.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Maths with a Level 3 qualification.
• Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2+) desirable.
• Experience supporting learners in education, ideally in Further Education and GCSE/Functional Skills environments.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and IT skills, with the ability to support learners with additional needs.
• Flexible, learner-focused, and professional with commitment to inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class and small-group support in English and Maths, helping learners build understanding, confidence, and independence.
• Support learners with additional needs (including EHCPs) to ensure inclusive participation and equal access to learning.
• Assist tutors with preparing resources, delivering activities, and supporting assessments and progress tracking.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and punctuality, encouraging learners to take ownership of their development.
• Work with staff to support learner success, use digital systems effectively, and maintain confidentiality while adhering to policies and professional standards.
