Job summary

Ellesmere College is seeking a Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 4-19 with a range of learning difficulties. The role is 30 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, term time plus one week, with fixed daily hours and mandatory training. You will work closely with teachers to enable inclusive learning and student wellbeing.

Experience with SEN, GCSEs in Maths and English, and knowledge of Makaton/PECS are desirable, with a commitment to professional growth in a supportive team.

Job description

You will work closely with students aged 4-19 who have a range of moderate to complex learning difficulties, including communication and interaction needs and complex autism. Your role will involve:

• Supporting students' learning and development in the classroom and beyond
• Adapting your approach to meet individual needs
• Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals
• Helping students achieve their best possible outcomes
  Excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible, team-oriented mindset
• Educated to GCSE level in Math's and English or equivalent (this must be evidenced)
• A commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
• A desire to learn and grow in a supportive environment
• Experience with special needs is highly desirable, as is knowledge of:
• Makaton
• PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
• Sensory-based approaches
• £19,085 - £20,342 (Actual salary)
