Job summary

Samuel Laycock School in Ashton Under Lyne is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant on a fixed term maternity cover. The role supports pupils aged 11-16 with moderate learning difficulties and autism, under the New Bridge MAT.

The post is based at Samuel Laycock School, with staff employed by the MAT and expected to work at any site within the group if required. Salary: NJC scale points 5-11 (£26,427 – £29,071 full-time equivalent) pro rata £20,963 – £23,060; SEN allowance £1,590 per annum.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs, ideally in education.
• Experience supporting learning in a SEN setting for a dedicated group of students.
• Experience monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to stakeholders.
• Experience differentiating interventions with classroom teachers for the curriculum.
• Ability to model and encourage appropriate social behaviour in and out of school.
• Nurturing and empathetic approach to behaviour management.
• Physical and emotional resilience to support students with SEN needs.
• Ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
