Job summary

New Bridge MAT is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant (Cover) to support a diverse group of pupils at Samuel Laycock School in Ashton-under-Lyne. The role covers staff absence and supports effective teaching and learning across the school.

You will assist teachers, monitor progress, differentiate interventions, and help manage behaviour within a SEN setting. The post is permanent and follows NJC scales with pro rata salary for part-time hours. DBS checks and safeguarding compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with school-age pupils, including those with challenging behaviour and complex needs.
• Experience in supporting teaching and learning in a special needs setting.
• Ability to monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
• Ability to differentiate interventions to support curriculum delivery.
• Experience in modelling appropriate social behaviour and safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide cover for staff absence across the school to ensure continuity of teaching and learning.
• Support the class teacher to monitor and improve student progress and engagement.
• Record student progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and families.
• Differentiate curriculum activities to meet individual pupil needs within a special needs setting.
• Work collaboratively with staff to implement interventions and support plans.
• Attend to the welfare and wellbeing of students and maintain a supportive learning environment.
• Engage in own professional development and participate in team meetings and training.
