Hays Recruitment is proud to support a single-form entry primary school in Warrington, seeking an experienced and qualified teaching assistant to support a new pupil in the reception class starting in September. This pupil has SEN and an EHCP, requiring 1:1 support on a full-time basis.
As a teaching assistant, you will support a reception class pupil with SEN on a 1:1 basis. The pupil has a dual diagnosis of ASD and being non-verbal. They are loving and caring but may sometimes display challenging behaviors, which are communication methods when upset, triggered, or overstimulated. You will support them throughout the school day, ensuring all learning materials and activities are inclusive and accessible by adapting the curriculum and equipment to their needs. Your responsibilities include supporting basic speech and language interventions, integrating the pupil into new groups to promote social and emotional development, and using sensory therapy tailored to their responses. Additionally, you will implement positive behavior strategies such as traffic light systems, bucket therapy, and reward charts.
