Job summary

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a Level 2 Teaching Assistant for a temporary position in Cwmbran, South Wales. You will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, following plans from teachers and the inclusion team to help learners access learning and stay engaged throughout the day.

The role requires a Level 2 TA qualification, experience in a school setting, and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply). You will contribute to a calm, inclusive classroom and work closely with staff and families.

Qualifications

• A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or equivalent).
• Experience supporting children in a school setting (mainstream and/or specialist behaviour provision).
• Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to apply).
• Understanding of child development and common barriers to learning.
• Calm, consistent approach with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, following plans set by the class teacher and wider inclusion team.
• Helping learners to stay on task, access differentiated activities, and develop independence within the classroom.
• Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation, particularly for pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Building trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and (where appropriate) parents/carers, sharing updates in a professional and constructive way.
• Assisting with pastoral care, safety, and wellbeing, ensuring the learning environment remains inclusive and supportive.

Job Description

Level 2 Teaching Assistant required for a supportive, well-established education setting in Cwmbran, Torfaen. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help pupils access learning, build confidence, and stay engaged throughout the school day. You’ll join a dedicated support team focused on creating calm, consistent routines and positive outcomes for every learner.
