Our schools federation is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our KS2 team at Carterknowle Junior School. This is a fantastic part-time opportunity for someone who thrives on helping children succeed, working flexibly across two days per week to support general learning routines both in and out of the classroom. You will play an important role in day-to-day classroom life, helping children access the curriculum and supporting their physical and emotional well-being. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils inside the classroom during whole-class lessons, helping them stay focused, follow instructions, and complete tasks.
  • Assisting children outside the classroom during practical lessons, outdoor learning, and playground duties.
  • Encouraging pupil learning and progress by keeping children engaged, motivated, and building their independent learning skills.
  • Maintaining a sharp focus on health and safety and safeguarding, serving as a vigilant pair of eyes to keep our environment secure at all times.

What the school offers its staff

What We Offer

  • A welcoming, supportive and collaborative staff team.
  • Pupils who are eager to learn, resilient and proud of their school.
  • Access to continuous professional development (CPD) and tailored training opportunities.
  • A pro-rata term-time salary package.

Further details about the role

The successful candidate will meet the person specification, including:

  • A relevant Level 2 or above qualification in childcare or supporting teaching and learning, alongside GCSE English and maths (Grade 5/C or above).
  • Proven experience working with children within a primary school setting, ideally across Key Stage 2.
  • Excellent communication, a patient and empathetic approach and good classroom behaviour management strategies.
  • An absolute commitment to child protection, statutory safeguarding guidance (KCSIE), and maintaining health and safety protocols.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people; we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to disclose any cautions or convictions prior to interview.
