Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a caring Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Preston. This full-time temporary-to-permanent role supports pupils with ASD, SLD, PMLD and other needs, working with teachers and staff to deliver engaging learning and promote independence.

You will be part of a collaborative team, helping students develop key academic and personal skills with ongoing CPD opportunities and a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Holds a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Experience supporting children with SEN.
• Patience, consistency and strong relationship-building are essential.
• Knowledge of autism, learning difficulties, or communication needs is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN.
• Assist the class teacher with differentiated learning activities.
• Support communication using individualised strategies.
• Help pupils develop social, emotional and life skills.
• Manage sensory needs and support emotional regulation.
• Assist with personal care and mobility when required.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
