SEN Learning Support Assistant

Location: Preston
Contract: Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent
Pay: Competitive daily rate via Teaching Personnel

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for an SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Preston on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

This nurturing setting supports pupils aged 2-11 with a range of additional needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, communication needs, and sensory or physical needs.

The role involves:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
  • Supporting learning, communication, and social development
  • Assisting with sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and personal care where required
  • Implementing behaviour and communication strategies
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
  • Promoting a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have experience supporting children with SEN
  • Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable)
  • Be patient, resilient, and caring in their approach
  • Have a good understanding of autism and complex learning needs
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
