Job summary

GKN Aerospace is hiring a Level 2 NDT Technician for day shift at Bradley Stoke, Gloucestershire. You’ll inspect carbon fibre wing spars using ultrasonic methods and support QA in a Centre of Excellence for composite wings. The role requires EN4179 Level 2 training, drawing literacy, and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of EN4179 Level 2 training in ultrasonic inspection of carbon fibre composites.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and perform calculations.
  • Understanding of composite manufacture in aerospace.
  • Adherence to aerospace quality standards.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Willing to work at customer sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out ultrasonic inspection of carbon fibre wing spars (semi-automated/manual PA and pulse-echo).
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Maintain aerospace quality standards.
  • Support the NDT Level 3 as required.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers as required.
  • Provide reports on Non-Destructive Testing matters.

Job Summary

Due to a continued growth in business, we have an exciting and career defining opportunity for a Level 2 NDT Technician to join the team in Western Approach. This site is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production, manufacturing composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircrafts. The successful applicant will inspect and evaluate the A350XWB and A400M carbon wing spars and their associated components throughout the manufacturing process. These inspections will utilize semi-automated and manual phased array and conventional pulse echo ultrasonic testing techniques. The successful candidate will work a 7 day fortnight shift pattern, which includes 28% shift allowance: WK1: Monday / Tuesday / Friday / Saturday / Sunday; WK2: Wednesday / Thursday.

How You'll Contribute
  • Carry out Semi-Automated, Manual Phased Array and Manual Pulse Echo Ultrasonic Inspection of carbon fibre composite wing spars and associated components.
  • Compliance with all Health & Safety requirements
  • Maintenance of aerospace quality standards
  • Provide support as required to the NDT Level 3
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers as required
  • Provide reports on Non-Destructive Testing matters

  • Have documented evidence of classroom training and work experience hours sufficient to gain EN4179 Level 2 qualification in the Ultrasonic Inspection of carbon fibre composites
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and be mathematically proficient in the utilisation and transposition of various formulae
  • Understanding of composite manufacture gained in the Aerospace industry
  • Understanding and adherence to aerospace quality standardsA team player with the ability to work alone in the continuous improvement of NDT processes and documentation
  • Willing to work at customer sites as required
