This role is based in Parklands and reports to the Finance Business Partner. It is a contract position at an entry level, within the accounting and finance industry.

Overall Purpose of the Role: As an Accountant at Compass, you will work within a financially focused team to understand key business drivers and support improved business performance. The role involves enhancing service levels, cost effectiveness, and adding value to commercial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support key stakeholders (financial and non-financial) in commercial and operational decision-making, managing financial risks and opportunities.
• Provide proactive financial analysis to support business unit decisions.
• Manage financial risks and opportunities from volumetric and other contract mechanisms.
• Highlight financial risks and opportunities from balance sheet management.

Performance and Reporting:

• Prepare reports such as month-end summaries, business reviews, client reports, budgets, and cash analyses.
• Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews and escalate risks/opportunities.
• Assist in closing monthly accounts, ensuring accurate recognition of sales and costs.
• Promote working capital improvements through timely billing, debt management, and query resolution.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and documentation for tenders and capital expenditure.

Relationship Management and Teamwork:

• Work effectively as part of a team.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

• First-level professional exam qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).
• Passion for finance and understanding of management accounting.
• Analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Desirable:

• Adaptability to changing environments.
• Good Excel skills.
• Experience with SAP, Cognos, Quick Sights.
